Message-ID: Hi all, We just released some big library-related updates in Autodesk EAGLE and are looking for feedback and suggestions on next steps. Specifically, we launched a new content site, https://library.io which includes a tool for the parametric generation of 2D and 3D packages. EAGLE 8.7 includes this tool, plus advanced search filters for finding packages based on parameters like pitch and number of pins. We also added the ability to create symbol pins by pasting in their names and other information. For details, see: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5 /eagle-forum/eagle-8-7-parametric-2d-amp-3d-model-generation -library-io-more/td-p/7836642 We'd love to get your feedback on the next steps for library-related development in EAGLE. We put together a short survey to gather your input: https://goo.gl/forms/dHCHRsH64lTFVWuT2 If you have opinions on the future of libraries in EAGLE, please fill out the survey. Or, if you'd prefer, feel free to email me your thoughts directly. We want to build a tool that you all find useful and usable! Rather than settle for open hardware simply gaining traction organically, I have been working on projects to help accelerate the uptake (e.g. see this issue of the National Academy of Engineering's magazine ). My current project is specifically looking at mechanisms to leverage government support to grow libre businesses. For that I could use some help from you with established businesses with a few questions. Please feel respond to me directly or to the whole list: 1. Have you taken advantage of any existing programs at the federal, state or local level e.g. SBIR/STTR etc? 2. For development of future OS products what would be your ideal type of government program? 3. Have you had any unique challenges as an OS company that you would like to see fixed (either for yourself or those companies that come after you)? 4. If you are successful - and if your open to it I would love to use whatever financial information you would be comfortable sharing (e.g. price comparison between your products and the closest proprietary competitors and # of sales to estimate the cost savings for the overall economy) All the best, Joshua -- Joshua M.
