I had a post recently on our site about my own experiences and why I believe in the OS Hardware movement (kcohg.org), for me it is the ability to learn almost unhindered by requirements. I am no longer tied to a specific way of doing something or learning a process and if I find a better method or design improvement, I am able to make that change.

That change will itself allow the next learner to repeat and refine the process.
