[Discuss] A website to post and work on open design ideas

I haven't followed most of these sites... Are any of them geared toward
producing open source designs versus just crowd sourcing some of the
project development? For example, I am pretty sure Quirky is not open
source. I realize I should go do the research myself (and depending on my
available time I would like to), but I am still super busy so I am unlikely
to get to it for a bit.

I ask, because I think that could be the twist you were looking for. Lots
of folks are happy to capitalize on crowd sourcing without releasing the
results of the crowd's work as open source. If there isn't a place to go
do this kind of crowd inspired and developed work as open source hardware,
that could be a differentiator. And if there is a good site focused on
open source hardware, then I would like to study it and see how the work we
do at Mach 30 can be integrated into such a site as a way to gather more
ideas and support (within Mach 30's current project management structure,
of course).
